TOPIC: Dendrocalamus variety, any ideas?

Dendrocalamus variety, any ideas? 11 months 2 weeks ago #345

Does anyone have an idea what variety this may be? Looks like a Dendrocalamus, but a bit too smooth and green for an Asper and too many aerial roots to be Giganteus, although I could be wrong.

Scott, can you get more photos? Some closer shots of the shoots and other parts would help ID it.

According to locals, it's Giganteus.

I agree, the aerial roots are too high up the culm to be giganteus. Without detailed photos of the characteristics we can only guess.

I can't really get any more photos as the clump is a long way from me. What I'm told is it's Giganteus, the aerial roots are due to the high humidity in the rainforest in the monsoon season.

This is similar to what I have observed, Aspers in our area have much more aerial roots than those growing in less humid locations.
